Daily Bliss – November 9, 2015

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.Β  Howard Thurman

Book Love:
I recently finished these books:
The Loving Diet. This one’s about going beyond paleo into the heart of what ails you. I really loved it because it’s about choosing to love yourself and life no matter what your physical ailments are. Jessica, the author, focuses on the autoimmune protocol in her practice but she also brings a lovely heart centered approach to healing that I really dig.

Kale and Coffee. I’ve known about Kevin Gianni (The Renegade) for years. His book is all about his journey to finding health, happiness, and longevity. I enjoyed reading his story because I was pretty intense (like him) with the vegan (high raw) diet. I appreciated his honesty, courage and willingness to explore all avenues of health to see what works best for his body even when it challenged what he believed to be true.

Notes from a Blue Bike. It’s another memoir all about the the art of living intentionally in a chaotic world. Tsh is a wife and a mother to 3 kids. I love reading about how other mothers are creating their desired lives. It takes courage to create sacred boundaries in order to live the lives we most want. She’s a great writer and it was a fun to travel around the world through her eyes.

Body Goodness: I’ve been slowly getting off the bulletproof coffee. I liked the potential health and longevity theory but I didn’t notice any big benefits. And, I feel like a green smoothie/juice would probably be a better choice for me. Happy I tried it though.

Dr. Amen gave me some Serotonin Mood Support to help optimize my brain from what he saw on my brain scans mostly my limbic system being a bit overactive and signs of some trauma (from the last year with mold, our dog being killed and our best friend’s death). I think I notice a difference. I start my moon cycle in the next few days and I don’t feel the slight irritability + heightened emotional sensitivity that can come up for me at this time. Go serotonin boost! πŸ™‚

Mind/Heart Goodness: I am inspired to simplify even more and to keep refining my essentials and rockin’ the simple habits that add the most power and joy to my daily life. I get *really* excited about a lot of habits and things I want to do and can tend to want to do them all (now!). πŸ™‚

I’m bringing in my focus and only picking a few. This feels a bit challenging but I also know I will master more habits in the long run doing it this way. The question that is at the forefront of my mind is: What is most important now? What will have the greatest impact on my life today, next month, next year? What would it look/feel like if I did these habits every day? Simple wins and creating sustainable success!

Gratitude & Appreciation: I am grateful for the blue sky and clouds. They seem extraordinarily beautiful today as we walked and played outside. I am grateful for the abundance of yummy fruits and vegetables we have access to every week. I am grateful for books. Every day so much gratitude for books and the awesome people who wrote them! I am grateful for all the sweet little interactions we have with people around town. I am grateful for everyone who helped built the new park by our house. I am grateful for the Internet and all the amazing people I’ve met because of it, including my husband! I am grateful for the life and family we’ve created together.

Oh, and I won the day for my Brain & Body Optimization Game! Woot! Woot!

Bliss Diary – July 11, 2015

By being true to all sides of your nature, you acknowledge that you can be self-confident, active and strong, that you can nurture without being weak, that you can be wild and instinctual, as well as calm and reasoning, and that you have a beautiful darkness within, a depth beyond the mundane world. — Miranda Gray, “Red Moon”

Nutrition:
morning delight (coconut milk, tsp of ghee, tsp mct oil, tsp of maca, turmeric, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, collagen, stevia, longevity tea)
16 oz green juice
3 scrambled eggs w/kale + 1 carrot ginger muffin
big green goddess salad + yummy fresh salmon w/olives, nori and a 1/2 raw wrap

Movement:
* 10 minute walk
* 10 minute walk + 60 minute high intensity training class (metabolic madness) + * 10 minute walk
* 10 minute vibratrim
* 10 minute walk

Meditation: 15 minutes + 30 minute napitation

Body Goodness:Β  I loved going to the workout class this morning. So much fun! My inner athlete was in bliss. I’ve been wanting to go for awhile and since I’m in the communication/ collaboration part of my menstrual cycle it’s the perfect time to try something new. πŸ™‚ I feel like my energy is getting better and better too, which is exciting. I also got a colonic.

Mind/Heart/Spirit Goodness: Being true to all sides of our nature…this was in my heart and mind today. Seeing all the thoughts that float through my mind about everything. Not all of them are nice and “spiritual.” But, I’ve found that part of honoring myself is to let them be there without shame/guilt or thinking I shouldn’t even be having them.

We all have judgements, it’s part of being human. But, we don’t have to believe them or even repress them. Just notice. A lot of our thoughts are just the conditioning we’ve all had, not who we are. To quote Allan Lokos: Don’t believe everything you think. Thoughts are just that – thoughts. Letting thoughts just be thoughts. Yes! I’m in! πŸ™‚

Someone who truly inspires this way of living is my dear friend and mentor, Catherine Ingram. Dwelling in this place I felt moved to listen to some of her audios. I am so thankful to have her in my life. She is the embodiment of presence and her wisdom has been a gift. Every time I talk with her or listen to her I feel a softening…a relaxing into an ease of being. I know she has diligently practiced over the years and it shows in who she is and how she lives. Basking in her essence/beingness inspires me to be more gentle, kind and tender on this journey. There is always a jewel in whatever moment we are in.

Gratitude & Appreciation: I am grateful for our neighbor. Our dog got out and was running in the street and he saved him. So so so grateful!!Β  I am grateful for colonics and Lissa, my awesome therapist. I am grateful for the sweet park right by our house. I am grateful for Emerson and Brian, they make my life so much richer. I am grateful for my B’s support with E so I could have a mini self-care morning. #godads! I am grateful for all the laughter I experienced today (+ every day). I am grateful for all the people I continuously learn from. #thankyou

Bliss Diary – June 27, 2015

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. — Sophia Loren

My son woke me up at 5:30. I wished for more sleep and had a vision of reading and relaxing in bed on a Saturday morning. I smiled at how my days used to be before becoming a mother. Then, I got out of bed brushed my teeth and got breakfast ready.

I was reading my blog from back in 2009. If felt familiar and yet different. How do you describe what happens when you become a mother? I am the same at my core. Yet, a completely transformed woman. I have given birth to my son and also to a new version of myself.

I was tired this morning. My son was tired. I could feel the slight irritation and fatigue building. I asked him if he wanted to go to the track. With a big grin he said: “YES!” Then, asked if we could listen to Beckwith in the car. I said: “Yes.” Then, our dog barked to let us know he wanted to go too. I laughed. “Ok, looks like we’re going to the track.”

I still wanted to crawl back in bed but I knew this adventure would probably kick out any potential grumpy mood that might be lurking. We jumped in the car and turned up Beckwith’s TranscenDance and rocked out. How can you be in a bad mood when you listen to that? I highly recommend you get this album if you don’t have it. πŸ™‚ It felt good to be out in the warm sun, running, sprinting, laughing and watching E + Zeus run around and having a blast.

I had a quick chat with a woman who was pregnant, just starting 39 weeks. She was walking with her husband. I love pregnant woman. Maybe it was because I loved being pregnant or maybe because they are carrying life inside of them. Or maybe because they are on the precipice of transformation that they don’t even know is coming.

You can’t know. I wanted to sit down with her and talk about her life, her heart and her dreams. I wanted to talk to her about motherhood. I wanted to support and guide her. I wanted her to know that when she is exhausted at 3 am that it’s all going to be alright. I wanted to remind her of her strength. That it does get easier. But, all I said as they beamed with anticipation and joy was, “Congrats!” with a big smile.

I walked back to the car feeling happy that we made the trip and feeling more connected to myself and to life. Nature and movement have a way of doing that. That choice made a difference in the quality of my day. It’s always the little things that we can choose to do or not do. We always have the choice.

Intention/Affirmation: Light and joy and peace abide in me (ACIM Lesson #93).

Nutrition:
morning delight
cauliflower rice w/ground beef (leftovers from last night) + olives w/some maca cacao bar
chai smoothie + kombucha
16 oz green juice
homemade kale chips + nori sheets with avocado + cucumber slices + carrots + olives – this is called the “i don’t want to cook dinner” πŸ˜‰

Kale chips ready to go into the dehydrator, my little guy “cutting” the greens then sweeping the little pieces up and then the final kale goodness. πŸ™‚
Image-1

Movement:
* 30 minute track workout with sprints, stairs, lunges, squats, jogging and jumping jacks. It was a bit of everything along with chasing a dog and a toddler. πŸ™‚
* 60 minute walk (+ run) around time while E rode his balance bike

Meditation: 20 minutes + 30 minute napitation

Mind/Body/Spirit: I’m feeling inspired by the Divine Feminine right now. I love to explore both the masculine and the feminine. I go through phases where I dive deeper into one area. I love we get to choose where to play. My intention is be me fully knowing that my expression is going to be an integration of masculine and feminine. That is one of the many reason why I created Rock Your Goddess Life, to help women live from their essence and create an authentically awesome life.

I love the word Goddess. I love what it stirs in me. I love the call to action (+ being-ness) I feel when I view myself as a Goddess. I believe that every woman is a Goddess. When we affirm this we tap into a power within, we embody our true essence. We shine. We are radiance. This is what I want for my mind, body and spirit. This is what I am feeling today.

Gratitude & Appreciation: I am grateful for the track. I ran track in high school and there is something that feels powerful and nourishing when I go to one. I am grateful for my legs that allow me to sprint. I am grateful for the sun. I am grateful for the beauty of nature that surrounds us. I am grateful for Mamas who share their joys and their challenges. I am grateful for Amazon. I am grateful that my husband surprised me with some green juice and kombucha. I am grateful for all the people who directly and indirectly make my life easier.

P.S. Remember, You Matter!! πŸ™‚

Bliss Diary – June 20, 2015

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.Β
Michael Jordan

I grew up in the good ole midwest, Illinois specifically. I *loved* Michael Jordan + the Chicago Bulls. I had a life size poster of Jordan on my wall along with another one of him “flying” through the air for a dunk. I love the quote above and I get goosebumps every time I watch the video below. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

What is success? 9000 missed shots? I think about my life…am I willing to “miss” 9000 shots? Could I “fail” that much? Makes me think of my dear friend & mentor, Alan Cohen who said in one of our interviews: “If at first you don’t succeed, then redefine success.” (Thanks to Ellen Mary for pulling that one out ;)). We get to make the rules. I think sometimes we limit ourselves because we make really crappy rules on what success looks like (well, at least I do).

What if we consistently chose to do things that scared us? What would our lives look like if we were willing to look like a failure or weird or an idiot? What if people criticized us? These are all things I continue to work with. I’m still practicing living out loud (the title of my first blog back in 2006). πŸ™‚

Toddler Teaching Moment: My son has two pairs of moccasins. He wanted to wear one of each today. So…he’d be wearing two different shoes. At first I said: “They don’t match.” Then, I stopped and thought: “Why not? Why couldn’t he wear his shoes like that?” I had a quick chat with myself and realized there isn’t a certain rule on how you have to wear your shoes. I smiled. And, said: “Let’s do it.” I helped him put his shoes on and we went on our adventure. πŸ™‚

Nutrition:
warm lemon water + pinch of sea salt
morning delight tea/smoothie
16 oz green juice (post run)
big salad with/primal mayo, dulse, avocado, romaine, chlorella powder mashed together wrapped in seasnak (nori) sheets
fresh ginger tea + lemon with a splash of stevia drink
raw homemade ice cream before dinner then had cauliflower rice with 3 scrambled egg yolks

Movement: Exercising is important to me. I enjoy moving my body but I think I enjoy the way I feel (during + after) the most. I try to incorporate movement into my life as much as possible.

I know some at home Mamas talk about getting dressed up and ready for the day. I approach it a bit differently. I do a super simple beauty routine (like under 5 minutes) and put my workout clothes on so that I am ready for as many OTM’s (Opportunities To Move) as possible.

If you’re wanting some inspiration check out the hubsters’s PhilosophersNotes TV episode on No Sweat by Michelle Segar by clicking HERE.

* 10 min walk + 20 min run pushing E in the stroller
* 20+ min walking around town doing errands with E
*
I went to a bday party + was cruising all around/playing ping pong – life with a toddler = movement! πŸ™‚
* 20 minute foam roller myofascial release before bedΒ

Affirmation: I am vital and energized. I’ve got this!

Body Goodness: I am feeling good in my body. It felt really great to run this morning. It’s amazing how great it feels toΒ  move my body. I notice resistance (most times) but I’m always happy I did it. I am also feeling good and optimistic about my gut healing cleanse. Things seem to be moving along (pun intended ha).Β  I am looking forward to seeing how great I feel at the end of the 6-8 weeks of repairing/healing.Β

Gratitude + Appreciation: I am grateful for all my sweet Mama friends. I am grateful for all the good people out in the world. I appreciate all the simple and profound moments I have with my son every day. I appreciate the freedom I have in all areas of my life. I am grateful for our awesome little doggie, Zeus. I am grateful for my amazing body and all that it does every day to keep me healthy.
