Magical Moments: My son reaching up to hold my hand on our morning walk. Melts me every time. ❤ In my acupuncture treatment we worked on the liver channel and spontaneously people and situations started coming to my mind as I said: I forgive you. I release any and all resentment I may be holding. I am grateful for you and the lessons I’ve learned. I send you love. It was a really beautiful experience, brought tears to my eyes numerous times. I’ve never done this before, it was really powerful so I might incorporate it into more meditations. ❤
Body Goodness: I’ve always had an athletic and fit legs and today I noticed some cellulite which is something new. After years of practicing body love I wasn’t that triggered. I actually said out loud: Hmmm, that’s interesting as I looked in the mirror.
Cultural conditioning would have me dislike my body and be upset about my body and not want to get in a bathing suit and hide and get rid the cellulite at all costs. I used to believe those things and spent a lot of time, money and energy trying to do everything “right” to be so called beautiful.
Now, I just feel a sweetness and a tenderness to myself and to all the women who are so hard on their bodies. It’s not necessary. Yes, there are things we can do body/health wise to be healthier and more radiant but it must come from love not fear of not measuring up to the images we’ve seen over and over. We can address the royalty of our bodies and the royalty will respond.
I watched this video today too:
I would have walked through the beautiful door. Not because I feel beautiful all the time but because it would be a declaration to myself to own my unique beauty. It would be a reminder that we are all beautiful and to shed the cultural BS (belief system) that has us believing we are less than we truly are.
What door would you walk through?
Mind/Body/Spirit Goodness: Practicing presence. I’ve done two 10 day silent Vipassana meditation retreats. One of the biggest things I noticed was my rush to get to the next thing. There is no talking, no reading, no writing, no technology. All you do is meditate (10 hours a day), sleep, walk, and eat and your day starts at 4 am. I hated it. I thought the whole thing was a stupid idea. I cried. I wanted to give up. Then, something magical happened after 3 days. I settled into the routine, and even began to like it. I slowed way down in my body and mind. I started feeling and enjoying the meditation sessions more. I felt so much joy, connection and ease.
It’s take commitment, presence and practice to not think about what’s next. What are we going to do after this? What about after that, and next month and next year. I noticed this habit today while I was feeding my son his moonberry starberry pudding (he named it that :)). I was thinking about what we would do when he was done eating. I was in my head, thinking about my to do list for the day. Then, I paused and thought about Vipassana which means to see things as they really are.
So I practice observing the moment. I noticed how I was sitting on the floor. I noticed my feet. I noticed the blueberries and chia in the pudding. I noticed my son’s bright eyes. I noticed the green stripes on his shirt. I noticed the spoon. I noticed his little hands. I became aware of my breathing. Affirming I am seeing things as they are right now. I am here, fully present with my son joyfully feeding him his moonberry starberry pudding. There is no stress in the simplicity of presence.
